World Bank appoints Italian Elisabetta Capannelli as new country manager for Romania, Hungary

The World Bank recently appointed Elisabetta Capannelli as the new Country Manager for Romania. Based in the Bucharest office, Capannelli will also serve as country manager for Hungary. She replaced Francosi Rantrua.

Elisabetta Capannelli is an Italian national and joined the World Bank in 1998 as an economist.

Between 2005 and 2008, she worked at the European Commission where she was, among other roles, a Cabinet Member of Commissioner Joaquin Almunia, then Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs. She was in charge of the Cabinet’s international portfolio.

Elisabetta Capannelli holds a Laurea in Political Science with a Major in Economics from Bologna University, and a Master of Arts in Development Economics from Sussex University.
