Wizz Airs sets new Romanian hub in Craiova, with more routes

Low cost airline Wizz Air opened its fifth base in Romania, in the city of Craiova and will introduce four new routes from the city, to Barcelona, Bologna, Dortmund and Rome (Ciampino), starting July 23, the company announced.

These add to the two routes Wizz Air already has from Craiova, to London (Luton) and Milan (Bergamo). The number of flights for the two routes will also be increased. There will be four flights to Milan and three flights to London each week, compared to two flights for each of these destinations so far.

There will also be three flights each week towards Dortmund, and two for Bologna, Rome and Barcelona.

Wizz Air is the largest low cost airline in Central and Easter Europe, with 13.9 million passengers transported in the fiscal year ended in March 2014. The company operates a fleet of 53 Airbus A 320 planes from 18 hubs. It has 300 routes which connect 98 cities in 35 countries.

In Romania, Wizz Air operates from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Sibiu, Craiova, Arad and Targu Mures.
