Missing Ukrainian tourist found dead in Romania’s Piatra Craiului Mountains

The young Ukrainian tourists who went missing in Romania’s Piatra Craiului Mountains on Thursday morning, February 25, was found dead on Friday afternoon, according to Digi 24 news channel. The Romanian mountain rescuers had been looking for him for over 24 hours.

The man was a guide for four other Ukrainian tourists who came to explore the mountains, reports local News.ro. He was last seen at the Saua Grindului refuge, where the group spent the night on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, the guide left the refuge and never came back.

Several teams of mountain rescuers have been searching the young man, but the operation was difficult as there was a lot of ice in the area. The tourist was found some 500 meters away from where he had left his companions.
