14 January 2016

The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland will travel to Bucharest this January, one year after her previous visit to the country.

According to a statement of the U.S. Department of State, she will “meet with senior Romanian government officials to discuss bilateral and regional issues, including security and economic cooperation and government reform efforts.”

Victoria Nuland’s visit will take place on Monday next week, according to official sources cited by local Mediafax, but the exact program hasn’t been established yet. During her visit, she will meet Romanian President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos.

Victoria Nuland previously visited Romania in January 2015, shortly after President Klaus Iohannis took over as President of Romania. At that time, the American official had meetings with the President, the Prime Minister, and the presidents of the Parliament’s two chambers.
