Almost 6,000 tourists come to Romania by motorcycle or caravan

Almost 6,000 foreign tourists have arrived in Romania this year travelling by motorcycle and caravan, up by 12% compared to the last year. Most of them are Austrians, Germans, Swiss, Dutchmen, Italians or Poles.

About 3,000 of them came by motorcycle and some 2,800 came by caravan, reports local Profit.ro.

Motorcyclists stay about one week in Romania and prefer spectacular landscapes such as Transalpina or Transfagarasan. They spend about EUR 150 per day or EUR 1,000 per stay.

More than 1,400 caravans have arrived in Romania this year, bringing over 2,800 tourists. They come for longer periods of at least 20 days, and go to places such as Bucovina or Transylvania, or even the seaside and Bucharest. They spend about EUR 70 per day, or about EUR 1,400 per holiday.

Both motorcyclists and caravan owners arrive in Romania between March and October.
