Hundreds of tourists queue to reach Romania’s highest mountain peak

24 August 2020

Moldoveanu Peak in the Southern Carpathians, the highest mountain peak in Romania (2,544 m), got very crowded over the weekend.

Photos and videos shared on social media show hundreds of tourists queuing patiently on the narrow mountain trail going up to Moldoveanu Peak.

Despite the large number of people who decided to climb Moldoveanu Peak on the same day, the atmosphere was calm, and the tourists left the mountain trails as clean as they found them, Dan Izvoreanu, an experienced mountaineer, said, local Digi24 reported.

Izvoreanu estimated that about 1,000 people decided to go up to Moldoveanu Peak on Saturday, August 22.
