Three Shukar Collective concerts coming up in Romania

13 December 2011

Internationally acclaimed Romanian band Shukar Collective will hold three concerts in Romania: Thursday, December 15 in Bucharest at Atelierul de Productie (the Production Workshop), Friday, December 16th at Cluj-Napoca in Flying Circus Club and Saturday December 17 in Sibiu at Kingdom Club. All three concerts will end with a set by DJ Vasile.

Already a cult group, Shukar Collective, DJ Vasile, Dan Handrabur and the ursari band Shukar founded the band and have collaborated with other Romanian producers, such as as Matze (Cristian Stanciu), Vlaicu Golcea, Mitos Micleusanu and Marius Matesan. Their music combines authentic Roma music played by Shukar with hip hop, drum'n'bass, dub bass, spoons and violins. The idea was an instant hit abroad, where the band had numerous concerts.

The band have released two albums so far, TavesBahtalo!/ Urban Gypsy in 2003 and Rromatek in 2007. A third album is set to be released at the beginning of 2012. Listen to the first single from their upcoming album here.
