The third bridge between Romania and Bulgaria, over the river Danube, will cost between EUR 200 and EUR 270 million, feasibility studies show. The exact location of the bridge will be decided in the next two months, out of four possible locations, according to Novinite.

The four options are Oriahovo-Bechet, Silistra-Calarasi, Ruse-Giurgiu and Nikopol- Turnu Magurele, according to Bulgarian officials. A Romanian company, Transproiect 2001 has done the feasibility studies for each of the four locations. Romania and Bulgaria aim to connect some of their poorest regions by bridges over the Danube in order to attract new investors.

The two countries will ask for EU funding for the bridge. Currently, there are two bridges between Romania and Bulgaria, one between Giurgiu and Ruse and one between Calafat and Vidin.
