Thieves steal EUR 15,000 cash and equipment from utility company Enel's agency in Romania’s Constanta

The Romanian Police have opened an investigation after unidentified people broke into one of Enel’s agencies in Constanta, in eastern Romania, and stole two bill payment devices and the money inside them. The damage amounts to RON 70,000 (more than EUR 15,000), reports local Mediafax.

The two devices stolen from the Enel agency belonged to the company’s partner, Rompay. The burglars have stolen some RON 40,000 (EUR 8,900) in cash from these devices.

Representatives of the energy company announced the incident on Wednesday morning, January 20.

The Enel unit has a video surveillance system and motion sensors, according to company representatives. Due to the incident, the agency was closed on Wednesday, until 13:00. The investigators are now trying to identify the burglars.

Italian group Enel is one of the biggest electricity distributors and suppliers in Romania. It covers several of Romania's biggest cities, including the capital Bucharest, Constanta, and Timisoara.
