Telecom group UPC Romania brings American Jon Garrison to take over as CFO

Telecommunications group UPC Romania named Jon Garrison as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the company announced. Garrison will be in charge of all the financial activities of UPC Romania, including finance & accounting, billing & collection and procurement & general services.

Previously, Garrison held the position of Co-CFO in Unitymedia KabelBW, a German cable TV provider controlled by American group Liberty Global, which also controls UPC Romania.

Garrison graduated Denver University and has a master’s degree in finance and accounting. He had served as audit senior manager for Deloitte in Denver and London for seven years before joining Liberty Global in 2005.

UPC Romania is one of the main providers of cable TV, broadband internet and fixed line voice services in Romania. Its main competitors are Romanian group RCS&RDS and Romtelecom, which is indirectly controlled by German group Deutsche Telekom.

UPC serves 1.18 million customers in Romania and last year had a turnover of EUR 103 million. The company made EUR 5.8 million losses in 2013.
