A new heat wave will hit Romania this week, temperatures of up to 37 degrees Celsius being forecasted for several counties starting July 6.

Meteorologists issued a yellow code of heat for six counties in western and north-western Romania. The alert targets Arad, Timis, Bihor, Salaj, Satu Mare and Maramures counties. Here, the temperatures will reach 37 degrees Celsius on Monday, July 6.

According to meteorologists, maximum temperatures of up to 35 degrees Celsius can also be registered in other areas.

On July 7 and July 8, the wave of heat will gradually take over the whole country.

In this period, doctors recommend people to avoid going out between 10:00 and 18:00, to drink lots of water, eat fruits and vegetables, and avoid drinking alcohol or coffee.

Romania previously faced a heat wave in mid-June.
