12 September 2013

CEOs of companies in Romania with 200-300 employees have an average gross pay of EUR 116,300 per year, including bonuses, new data reveals.

The study by Pedersen & Partners shows the average amount of money made by CEOs around the world relative to their company's size.

In terms of businesses with 200-300 workers, the highest average CEO gross pay goes to those running companies in Switzerland, who are likely to make EUR 239,500 annually, twice the amount of their counterparts in Romania.

CEOs in the UK get the second-highest gross compensation of EUR 220,200 per year, followed by Germany, where the executives have annual gross salaries, including bonuses, of EUR 215,000.

In neighboring Hungary, CEOs of companies with an average size of 200-300 employees have a gross compensation of EUR 120,500 per year, higher than the salary paid to the executives in Romania.

The lowest average pay, including bonuses, goes to the CEOs of companies with 200-300 employees in Lithuania (EUR 76,700), Estonia (EUR 76,100), Latvia (EUR 75,000) and Serbia (EUR 72,800).

In the case of corporations with over 100,000 employees, the global average cash compensation of a top executive is EUR 1.35 million gross per year.

This amount is almost equally divided in EUR 660,000 base compensation and EUR 690,000 short term bonus, shows the study.

The average top executive compensation in companies with 20,000 to 50,000 employees reaches EUR 780,400 per year in the U.S. and over EUR 773,000 in the UK.

Executive search firm Pedersen & Partners’s study was conducted among 1,700 executives in 330 companies in 17 countries. Find the entire study here.
