Bucharest urban event looks at how cities can become smarter

03 May 2018

This year’s edition of Street Delivery, an event dedicated to the arts, urbanism and architecture, invites organizations and companies to suggest ways to make the cities smarter and more friendly for their inhabitants.

The event takes place in Bucharest between June 15 and June 17, at Pictor Arthur Verona St. It is also held in several cities in the country. Last year, Street Delivery also took place in Timişoara, Iaşi, Cluj-Napoca, Baia Mare, Bacău, Galaţi, Arad, and Chişinău

“Our obsessive, automatic habits which we put into practice daily deteriorate our environment and wellbeing to such an extent that we end up spending years in a nightmarish traffic, blaming the others. But we don’t get out of the car to walk, bike or take the bus. It is too complicated. We breathe the most polluted air in Europe, but we lay even more concrete on the little green area we have. We are aware that the cars have conquered every meter of our walking space, but we enlarge the boulevards instead of offering more space to the people,” the event’s organizers explain on this year’s topic.

The theme of "Smart Cities?" will cover more than the tech niche. Those interested can submit their projects by June 1 here.

Street Delivery was started in 2006 by the Cărtureşti Foundation and the Order of Architects in Romania.
