Statistics Institute: Romania’s economy, up by 3.7%

Romania’s economy increased by 3.7% in the first nine months of the last year, according reviewed figures released by the National Statistics Institute (INS) on Friday.

The estimated GDP in the first three-quarters of the last year amounted to over RON 528 billion (EUR 116.6 billion), in current prices, in a seasonally adjusted series.

By comparison, the GDP totaled EUR 116.2 billion in the first nine months of 2015, according to the estimation INS released in December.

The estimated GDP for the third quarter reached EUR 39.5 billion, also higher than in the previous report.

The National Prognosis Commission revised the GDP growth for 2015 at 3.6% in November last year, and kept at 4.1% the estimation for 2016.
