The first days of September bring high temperatures to Romania.

Meteorologists issued a code orange for intense heat in 16 of Romania’s counties, namely Satu Mare, Maramures, Bihor, Arad, Alba, Hunedoara, Timis, Caras-Severin, Mehedinti, Dolj, Botosani, Iasi, Vaslui, Suceava, Neamt, and Bacau. In these areas, temperatures can reach 38 degrees Celsius. The alert is valid for September 1.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country is under a yellow alert for heat and expects temperatures of up to 37 degrees Celsius.

The hot weather continues on Wednesday, September 2, when Alba, Hunedoara, Caras-Severin, Mehedinti, Dolj, Botosani, Iasi, Vaslui, Suceava, Neamt, and Bacau counties will remain under a code orange for heat. The rest of the country will be under a code yellow.

Temperatures might start to drop at the end of this week.
