18 November 2015

Satellite settlements located near big cities saw many new residential developments last year.

Four villages, i.e. Selimbar, Floresti, Giroc and Miroslava and three towns in the Ilfov county, namely Popesti Leordeni, Otopeni and Bragadiru are in the top 15 for the deliveries of new homes in 2014. They have surpassed big cities such as Iasi, Ploiesti, Galati or Sibiu on the number of new housing units delivered last year, according to DTZ Research.

The number of new homes built in Popesti Leordeni last year was as high as in Bucharest whereas the developments in Selimbar surpassed those in Sibiu. The residential activity in Miroslava, Iasi county, was more intense than in Iasi.

The villages Floresti and Giroc, which are located near Cluj-Napoca, respectively Timisoara, are also witnessing important residential developments.

People choose these satellite settlements as the land price is lower than in big cities.
