Sales of Romania’s Dacia return to growth in Germany

The sales of Romanian Dacia returned to growth in Germany in May, going up 16.9 percent, to some 4,900 cars, three times higher than the growth of 5.2 percent reported by the overall market.

Dacia registrations in Germany thus recovered after they fell by 7.4 percent in April, following an advance of 3.1 percent in March.

Dacia’s market share stood at 1.8 percent in May this year, according to data from the German Car Registrations Office, quoted by Mediafax.

Seven brands recorded stronger growth than Dacia. Jeep registrations increased by 84.6 percent to 757 cars, Nissan recorded an increase of 36.6 percent to over 4,600 units, Renault registered a growth of 32.5 percent, Volvo - up 29.6 percent, Mazada - up 26.7 percent, Skoda - up 22.6 percent, and Citroen - up 22.2 percent.

In the first five months, Dacia’s sales increased by 9.7 percent, to over 20,600 units. Its market share was 1.6 percent.
