Russia warns Romania on NATO forces strengthening

03 April 2015

Romania should be aware of the responsibility and the consequences of strengthening the NATO forces on its territory, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“Strengthening the NATO forces in Eastern Europe is an unprecedented step, which violates all existing agreements,” said Alexander Lukashevich, spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, cited by local Mediafax.

He also said that the NATO actions are “dangerous”.

NATO and Russia have agreed not to mobilize excessive military capabilities, insisting on the principle of mutual dissuasiveness, said Lukashevich.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta however answered on Twitter that Romania is aware its decisions are the best for the country and its partners.
