Romania's Tax Agency controls flower shops, beauty salons

25 February 2016

Romania’s Tax Agency ANAF will start the “Venus” operation this Friday.

The authorities will check if the companies that sell flowers, as well as the beauty salons and the catering facilities comply with the tax measures. The Anti-Fraud department within ANAF will carry out the controls.

“The Venus operation aims to diminish tax evasion in the trade with flowers and ornamental plants,” reads the ANAF press release.

The operation also aims to increase tax compliance, including the use of the electronic cash machine.

The month of March is a peak period for flower sales in Romania.
