04 March 2016

Romanian men will also be officially celebrated starting this year. President Klaus Iohannis signed on Thursday, March 3, the law that declares March 8 as the official Women’s Day, and November 19 as the Men’s Day in Romania.

The law was voted by the Chamber of Deputies’ at the beginning of February.

Thus, the public authorities can organize events to celebrate these days, and the public television and the public radio can broadcast “programs dedicated to promoting women’s rights or men’s rights” in their programs, according to the legislative proposal initiated by five Romanian Senators.

Romania thus joins a group of over 60 countries around the world that celebrate the International Men’s Day on November 19.
