24 June 2015

Romanian electricity producer Nuclearelectrica, which operates the country's nuclear power plant at Cernavoda, has closed a EUR 17.4 million deal with energy supplier Electrica Furnizare for electricity delivery. Both companies are controlled by the Romanian state.

Nuclearelectrica’s two units produced 4.63 million MWh of electricity in the first five months of the year, 4.2 million MWh of which was delivered to the National Power System.

Last year, the power plant produced 11.67 million MWh of energy and had a turnover of over EUR 400 million.

Nuclearelectrica estimates that it will soon reach an agreement with the Chinese group China General Nuclear Power Corp for developing the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4 project. The Chinese group won the tender organized by the Romanian state last fall.
