Romania's new Government wants new healthcare law

17 November 2015

The new Government led by Dacian Ciolos wants to introduce a new healthcare law and to make an evaluation of the current emergency system. It also plans to create emergency units for rural areas and for crisis situations.

The new Government also plans to support the private health insurance, by allowing taxpayers to redistribute a part of their mandatory health insurance contributions to private insurers.

The new health law should also provide evaluation criteria for the performance of the health care staff, which should be reflected in wages. The final aim is to reduce doctors’ work migration abroad and increase the quality of the care system.

The Government also considers introducing national prevention and education health programs.
