Romania’s natural growth was positive in August, amounting to some 1,770 people, same as in July.

About 21,050 babies were born in August, up by 511 compared to July, according to data from the National Statistics Institute INS. The number of people who died totaled almost 19,300, some 1,150 fewer compared to July.

Compared to August 2014, the number of people born in August this year was higher by 5,150 whereas the number of the deceased was similar.

In August this year, the number of marriages and divorces increased compared to the previous month. About 22,700 marriages took place in August, and there were 2,370 divorces.
