Romania's Ministry of Finance borrows EUR 46 mln from commercial banks

The Romanian Ministry of Finance borrowed on May 14 EUR 46.2 million from commercial banks, through an auction of government bonds with a residual maturity of about four years. The average yield amounted to 2.61%.

Demand from banks amounted to EUR 109.2 million, but the state decided to borrow only EUR 46.2 million, reports local Agerpres.

The Finance Ministry will organize an additional session to yesterday’s bond auction. It wants to borrow another EUR 13.4 million, at the same yield.

In May, the Finance Ministry plans to raise some EUR 493 million. It will use the amount to refinance public debt and finance the state budget deficit.
