Romania's Government wants to tax products with high sugar content
Romania’s Finance Ministry will introduce a special tax on foods and beverages with high sugar content.
This could apply from 2018 and could include other products that present a risk for health, the newly appointed finance minister Ionut Misa said on Thursday, June 29, reports local Profit.ro.
He explained that Romania would follow the examples of other European states.
Producers would cover the tax in this case, so the new tax would not affect consumers, the minister added. It will probably be a percentage of the turnover or the production volume.
