Romania’s Foreign Affairs Minister resigns after only five days on problems in voting abroad

Romania’s Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu announced his resignation from this position, after just five days, due to problems in organising the voting in the presidential elections for Romanians abroad.

“I take full responsibility and will present my resignation in today’s Government meeting,” Melescanu said.

He was named for the position of Foreign Affairs Minister less than a week ago by Prime Minister Victor Ponta, after former minister Titus Corlatean resigned due to poor organisation of the voting abroad in the first round of the elections.
