Romania’s external debt drops in September

Romania’s direct public external debt on the medium and long term decreased by EUR 97.5 million (0.32%) month-on-month in September, to EUR 30.5 billion, according to data from the Central Bank BNR, cited by local Capital.ro. It is however higher by 2.4% than the level registered the previous year.

The reduction came from lowering the level of loans granted to Romania by multilateral institutions, which totalled EUR 13.4 billion in September 2014, down from EUR 13.57 billion in August.

According to BNR data, Romania’s debt to the International Monetary Fund IMF decreased by 193 million month-on-month in September, to EUR 1.9 billion.
