Romania’s Central Bank foreign exchange reserves up EUR 1.4 bln in October

Romania’s Central Bank’s (BNR) foreign exchange reserves increased from some EUR 33 billion to more than EUR 34.5 billion between the end of September and October 31, according to data provided by the bank.

During October, Romania’s BNR recorded EUR 2.1 billion inflows, representing changes in the foreign exchange reserve requirements of the credit institutions, inflows into the European Commission’s account and inflows into the Ministry of Public Finances’ accounts.

During the same month, the bank reported outflows of EUR 722 million, according to BNR.

Romania’s gold stock remained unchanged from the end of 2012, sitting at 103.7 tonnes and its value amounted to some EUR 3.2 billion.

The country’s total foreign exchange reserves and gold stock was EUR 37.8 billion at the end of October, up compared to EUR 36.3 billion on September 30.
