Romania’s Bucharest Stock Exchange starts conference event series in London

09 October 2014

The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), Romania’s capital market operator, will hold a conference in London, on October 22, the first in a series of quarterly events dedicated to London-based institutional investors.

The aim of these events is to get institutional investors aware of the recent developments of the Romanian capital market and its objective to reach the emerging market status, BVB has announced.

During the last 12 months, the Romanian capital market has undertaken a deep reform in order to eliminate barriers to development. The reform aims to bring easier access for investors into the market, higher liquidity and improved market mechanisms.

"Romania, the second largest country in the Central and Eastern Europe, is a market which undergoes a process of a major modernization, which is intended to durably improve the risk profile and to liberate more opportunities through portfolio investments,” said Ludwik Sobolewski, BVB CEO. “Romania as of today is a unique laboratory in which is occurring a transformation from a dried up territory towards flourishing market, being a part of international network. This is a very special moment to be looked at and to actively participate in it,” he added.

The series of events in London dedicated to institutional investors, under the name “Romanian capital market – up the ladder to emerging market”, will be organized on a quarterly basis and will give investors the opportunity to be informed on the latest developments run by the Bucharest Stock Exchange and to liaise with Romanian capital market’s decision factors.

National Bank of Romania representatives, Romanian Financial Supervisory Authority and BVB officials will speak at the conference, together with representatives of the international investors’ community.
