Romanians, among most miserable employees in Europe

Two in three Romanians are unhappy with their spending power, one of the highest rates in Europe, according to a research made by Edenred-Ipsos.

The survey collected answers from 13,600 employees in 14 European countries.

The salary level and job security are the main concerns for European employees, who are also more discontent with the long hours they spend at work.

Some 39% of Romanian employees say they are satisfied with their professional life, a little above the European average of 36%. However, Romanians are among the least happy employees in Europe, with only 31% answering they are often happy with their work, compared to a 38% European average.

Romanian employees are most concerned with their salary levels (41%, compared to 39% European average) and unemployment (39%, compared to 33% European average). Over half - 64% - of Romanians are unhappy with their purchasing power.

Despite all these, Romanian employees are among the most motivated in Europe, with almost three quarters (74%) saying that their work motivation is constant or growing, compared to a 69% European average.
