Romanian woman drowns in floods that hit southern Spain

Torrential rains have caused a severe flooding in southern Spain, which took the lives of two people, including one Romanian woman.

The Romanian was 26 years old and apparently drowned in the basement of a strip club in Estepona. She tried to go out, but the water came so fast that she just couldn’t reach the exit, reports Elespanol.com. The Spanish publication also reports that the local police is now trying to find out for how long had the woman been in Spain, and under what conditions she had arrived there.

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that a Romanian citizen died in the floods in southern Spain.

“Romania’s Consulate General in Seville received official confirmation that the victim has Romanian citizenship. The Consular Office maintains regular contact with local authorities, being prepared to give consular assistance,” according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reports local News.ro.
