Romanian wins EUR 3,400 after betting Iohannis president

A Romanian has won RON 15,238 (over EUR 3,400) at a betting house after he bet that Klaus Iohannis will win the presidential elections organized in Romania last Sunday, according to representatives of the betting house, cited by local Mediafax. The winner’s bet was of RON 4,000 (under EUR 1,000).

Players have placed total bets of RON 245,000 (some EUR 55,000) at the same betting house, buying some 1,000 tickets on who will be the winner. Most of the tickets, namely 75%, were showing current Prime Minister Victor Ponta as the winner, while the rest were bets on Klaus Iohannis.

Iohannis, the current mayor of Sibiu, won the presidential elections organized on Sunday, November 16.
