Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu prepares for string of international concerts

Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu will perform with pianist Dan Grigore at Teatro alla Scala in Milan on October 6, 2013. Her upcoming performances also include appearances at the Philharmonie Essen in Essen, the Washington National Opera in Washington DC, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona,  the Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Staatsoper Hamburg in Hamburg, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.

The Romanian soprano was born in 1965 in the Romanian town of Adjud. She made her international debut in 1992 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London with La Boheme, and, in the same year, she also made her debuts at the Metropolitan Opera New York and the Vienna State Opera. She has performed on the world’s biggest stages and in December 2010 she was awarded an honorary doctorate ( Doctor Honoris Causa ) by the University of Arts in Iasi, Romania, and the ‘Star of Romania’, the highest decoration given by the President of Romania.
