Romanian song of the week: Soare cu dinti by Robin and the Backstabbers

18 July 2011

This week’s song is performed by the Romanian band Robin and the Backstabbers and though it is not necessarily brand new, launched in February of this year, it has a catchy beat that still makes it one of the most well-received and well liked Romanian songs of 2011. The song is called “Soare cu dinti” (Sun with teeth – Frosty sun; meaning that even though it seems to be a bright weather it is still cold).

The band Robin and the Backstabbers, which is an unstable, imprecise and unpredictable source of noise, as it is described on it’s Facebook page, consists of Andrei Robin Proca (voice, guitar), Vladimir Proca (drums), Florin Vasile (guitar) and Vlad Fenesan (bass). “Soare cu dinti” is the band’s third single form their debut album. The first two songs are “Vanatoarea regala” (Royal hunt) and “Iguana facatoare de minuni” (The Iguana that performs miracles) and you can listen them on their MySpace profile. Meanwhile, enjoy this one below.
