Romanian Social Democrat leader asks PM to analyze Government reshuffle

20 October 2015

Liviu Dragnea, the newly elected leader of the Social Democrat Party (PSD), has asked Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who is also a member of PSD, to analyze if he needed to make any changes in the Government’s structure, in the following period.

Dragnea said that each Government needed to carry out such analyses periodically.

“A serious analysis needs to be made. If the Prime Minister considers that he needs an improvement of his cabinet’s activity we will talk, and if we will agree on this, we will grant him all the needed support,” said Dragnea, reports local Hotnews.ro.

Prime Minister Ponta, who resigned as president of the Social Democratic Party in August, after being indicted in a corruption case, said on Sunday that his mandate was at the disposal of the new party president. Dragnea reassured Ponta that he would continue to support him as Prime Minister.

New parliamentary elections will take place next year.
