Princess Irina, the third daughter of King Michael of Romania, was sentenced to three years’ probation by a US federal judge after she apologized for her role in an Oregon cockfighting business, that, she said, brought shame to her family.

“"I'm very sorry about my involvement in this business," Irina Walker said, reports ABC News. "It was not my intention to go against the law." John Walker, the husband of the Romanian princess, was also sentenced to probation.

Princess Irina pleaded guilty in July to operating a cockfighting business at her ranch in Oregon. She and her husband were arrested last year in Oregon. The two suspects organized at least 10 cockfights. Prosecutors said the Walkers charged spectators USD 20 to enter and the crowds generally exceeded 100 people.
