Romanian market for digital cameras to drop by a quarter this year

21 November 2014

The local market for digital cameras will record a decline of 20-25% this year compared to 2013 when it reached 230,000 units, according to Petronius Secareanu, the head of Canon Romania. The drop is registered mainly due to lower sales of compact products.

“By segments, some 30,000 DSLRs were sold in 2013 and this year, if the last quarter goes well, this market might remain at the same level or slightly below, but not dramatically. On the other hand, the compact products will drop by 20-25%,” said Secareanu, cited by local Mediafax.

According to him, the market will continue the downward trend in 2015, when sales of compact products will decrease by 10%.
