Romanian composer George Enescu to be celebrated in London's Kings Place this month

An event called “Enescu’s Farewell – A Symphony for Twelve” will be held this month at the Kings Place in London to celebrate 130 years since the birth of the great Romanian composer, George Enescu.

The recital, organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute and London Schubert Players on September 19, will be preceded by a talk by journalist Noel Malcolm, author of George Enescu’s biography.

The program of the concert includes Enescu’s latest work, “The Chamber Symphony for 12 Solo Instruments”. The work was written in Paris during his final months, in 1954 and it will be played for the first time in London.

George Enescu, born in 1881, in the village of Liveni, is an emblematic figure for the Romanian musical culture and one of the most important names in international gallery of the great composers and interpreters of the twentieth century.
