The Romanian government supports the city of Cluj - Napoca's 2015 European Youth Capital project, which is believed to be of national interest, according to a note recently approved during a Government meeting, reports local Mediafax. The exact budget and the financing sources for this project will be presented in a future meeting, according to government spokesman Corneliu Calota.

In 2012, the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca was designated the 2015 European Youth Capital. This title was awarded for the first time in 2009 to Rotterdam. After that, this title was given to Turin (2010), Antwerp (2011), Braga (2012), Maribor (2013) and Thessaloniki (2014).
