Romanian businessman denies trying to bribe Minister Dan Sova

Romanian businessman Calin Roman, manager of Selina Group, has denied allegations he tried to bribe minister Dan Sova to obtain a contract for a highway during a visit to China.

In response, he has asked the Bihor Court Prosecutors to question him about the accusations.

According to a statement of Selina Group, “there was no discussion about providing any amount of money” between Roman and minister Sova in Beijing.

Beniamin Rus, the owner of Selina Group, also said that none of the charges against Calin Roman were true.

Romanian minister Dan Sova told Mediafax on Thursday (October 10) that he filed a complaint to the National Anticorruption Department (DNA) against a Romanian businessman who attempted to bribe him during a visit to China.

The businessman, whose name was initially not revealed, allegedly hoped to obtain a contract for the construction of a highway section.

Selina Group is comprised of five companies, namely Selina SRL, Trameco SA, Drumuri Bihor SA, Selina Invest and Selina Kurdistan.
