Romania’s Anticorruption (DNA) prosecutors raided on May 14 seven firms in the Bistrita-Nasaud county, in a case of illegal deforestation.

The DNA prosecutors also searched the County Forestry Division office. Investigators took documents from the general manager and financial director’s offices, according to judicial sources, cited by local Wall-street.ro.

They are investigating corruption allegedly committed between 2009 and 2014.

They also raided seven companies in the county. One of them, Frasinul SRL, is owned by businessman Traian Larionesi, also investigated in another case, which involves several local police heads, accused of influence peddling.
