Romania to open three new tourism promotion offices abroad this year

09 January 2014

Romania will open three tourism promotion offices in Tokyo, Tel Aviv and Brussels this year, while closing the one located in Paris, according to the Romanian minister for SMEs, business environment and tourism, Maria Grapini.

“We’ll open a new Romanian tourism promotion office in Japan. […] I would like for the office to be opened by September, when the tourism fair will be organized in Japan,” said the minister, quoted by local news agency Mediafax.

Another tourism office will be opened in Israel this spring, according to Grapini, while the office in Paris will be closed in the first half of the year. However, a new tourism promotion office will be opened in Brussels, which will cover France, Belgium and The Netherlands.

“The office in Paris didn’t work properly until now, it was ineffective. I saw some tourism offices I didn’t like, such as Spain or France. I didn’t like the activity there,” said the Romanian minister.

Romania has nine tourism promotion offices abroad, located in New York, Paris, Berlin, London, Rome, Madrid, Moscow, Vienna and Warsaw.
