Sales of technical consumer goods up 13% in Romania
The sales of technical consumer goods (TCG) in Romania increased by 13% to EUR 3.4 billion in 2018, according to the GfK Temax survey.
Telecommunication equipment, which makes the largest market segment (42% in 2018), recorded a 23% increase in sales, to EUR 1.43 billion. The other three significant market segments (major domestic appliances, consumer electronics, and information technology) had annual growth rates of 7% to 8%.
In the fourth quarter of 2018, the Romanian TCG market reached nearly EUR 1.18 billion, a seasonally high value owed to events like Black Friday discounts and Christmas sales. Compared with Q4 2017, the increase was 6.8%, significantly slower compared to the whole year’s average.
The growth engines in Q4 were the sales of major domestic appliances (+12%) and office equipment (+13%).
