Romania registers second lowest prices in EU for consumer goods and services

Romania had the second lowest prices in the EU for consumer goods and services last year, standing at 54% of the EU average.

Bulgaria recorded the lowest prices, with 48% of the EU average, whereas Denmark saw the highest prices in the EU, at 138% of the EU average, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat.

The lowest prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages were recorded in Poland (61% of the EU average), Romania (68%) and Bulgaria (70%). Denmark had the biggest prices with 139% of the EU average.

Romania ranked third for lowest prices in the EU on tobacco and alcoholic drinks, with 72% of the EU average. Only Bulgaria and Hungary record lower prices for these items.
