Romania promotes Aegean Baltic Corridor at EU level

12 February 2015

Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Hungary intend to promote at EU level an interconnection project of their national gas networks, called the Aegean Baltic Corridor.

The four countries will require funding from the European Commission.

“We are interested in diversifying the gas supply sources and in raising the energy security degree in the area. Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and possibly Hungary will form a sub-group responsible for building the Aegean Baltic Corridor, within the high-level group,” said Andrei Gerea, Romania’s Energy Minister, cited by local Mediafax.

He took part on Monday in a meeting in Sofia on the regional interconnection for natural gas.
