Romania issues bonds for retail on stock market for the first time

Romanians can buy government bonds on the local stock market for the first time between June 8 and 19 this year.

The Finance Ministry has issued state bonds worth EUR 22.5 million only for individuals. A title costs EUR 225 (RON 1,000), reports local Mediafax.

Between June 9 and June 12, representatives of the Finance Ministry together with representatives of lenders BRD, Raiffeisen and BCR, which intermediate the bond issue, will make a roadshow in Bucharest, Timisoara and Cluj-Napoca to present the program.

The interest rate will be determined based on market’s interest +/- 0.2%. The Finance Ministry will establish the final interest rate on June 22 and will make then the allocations.

On the next day, on June 23, it will carry out the transactions, and by June 25, the buyers will have the acquired securities in their accounts.
