Romania eyes pan flute performer Gheorghe Zamfir and rowing champion Ivan Patzaichin to promote it abroad

Romania's promotion abroad could be made with the help of several famous Romanians, including pan flute performer Gheorghe Zamfir and rowing champion Ivan Patzaichin, said Cristian Bărhălescu, state secretary with the Tourism Ministry in Romania. The two well known Romanian figures could attract tourists in Romania, according to the Tourism Ministry.

Ivan Patzaichin - in picture (more about him here ) is a very good image creator for the Danube Delta in Romania. “We had a meeting with him, We want to set up a collaboration with him to increase the profile of the Danube Delta as a green tourism destination,” said Bărhălescu.

Romania could also be promoted at the concerts held by pan flute performer Gheorghe Zamfir, and Zamfir could also attend events organized by the Ministry. The two image spinners will be supported financially by the state. More about Gheorghe Zamfir in our Famous Romanians article here. 

The Tourism Ministry would like to continue to work with the former sports stars Gheorghe Hagi, Nadia Comăneci and Ilie Năstase, who have been promoting Romania's image abroad in recent years.

Romania has EUR 75 million in tourism funding from the EU between 2007 and 2013, and financing requests submitted by the country's Tourism Ministry add up to EUR 54 million.
