Romania buys EUR 110 mln weapons from German company

19 January 2016

State-owned company Romtehnica, which carries out exports and imports for the Romanian Defense Ministry, has signed two contracts totalling EUR 110 million to buy portable anti-tank missiles and “antitank means” from the German company EuroSpike GmbH.

Romtehnica has attributed the contract through direct negotiations, without organizing a public tender, reports Crji.org. The company has explained that the products can be provided only by a particular tenderer due to technical reasons.

The first contract was worth EUR 97.2 million whereas the second one amounts to EUR 17.9 million.

Romtehnica attributed the contract on December 24, 2015. However, the two contracts were signed on January 11, after Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos’ visit to Berlin last week.
