Romania borrows EUR 300 mln via treasury certificates

28 October 2014

The Public Finance Ministry borrowed some EUR 300 million from commercial banks, at a yield of 1.9%, via two discounted treasury certificates issuances, with a 7-month, and 11-month deadline, respectively.

The offer was almost three times oversubscribed for 7-month certificates, and over three times oversubscribed for the 11-month certificates tranche. In September, the ministry issued discounted treasury certificates at a yield of 2.2%.

The Ministry plans to raise some EUR 890 million in October via nine bids for treasury certificates and state bonds. Money will be used to refinance public debt and finance the state budget deficit.
