ROM chocolate bar maker expects over 10% growth rate in 2015

Romanian chocolate producer Kandia Dulce expects to increase sales by more than 10% next year, with the ROM chocolate bar as its main growth engine, according to Mihai Georgescu, the company’s general manager, quoted by local Wall-street.ro

For this year, he estimates a growth in sales close to 10%, to about EUR 45 million. The ROM chocolate bar is the number one bar in Romania by sales, with a market share of 20% in volume and 21% in value, according to the company’s own estimates.

ROM generates a quarter of the company’s sales, selling 36.6 million chocolate bars in the last 12 months. The company’s other important brands are Magura cakes and the Fagaras chocolate bars.

Kandia Dulce also produces the Kandia, Primola, Laura and Novatini chocolate brands, the Ulpio biscuits, as well as the Silvana and Sugus candies. Its main competitors on the Romanian confectionery market are international groups Mondelez, Nestle, and Mars.
